You know that your guests are tech savvy. But what about your restaurant? Are you up to date? Did you know that over 50 percent of consumers expect to be greeted with some technologically innovative options when they go to place an order and that adding a tech element, like the Presto tablet, can increase revenue by 10 percent or more? Restaurant technology can be a powerful tool for boosting revenue.
While you don’t have to do a huge tech upgrade to increase sales (just adding WiFi increases sales by eight percent), we’re pretty excited about some of the latest gadgets out there.
1. “Let the Magic Begin” with Baked by Melissa’s App
As of the summer of 2013, there are more than 900,000 apps in Apple’s App Store. Now, Baked By Melissa has joined the group with an app that uses Augmented Reality to “play” with their food. How’s it working? Well, only three customers gave it a single star. The other 47 reviewers thought it deserved a 4.5 rating.
2. Paperless Perks with FavoriteEats
Gandolfo’s New York Delicatessen is boosting its loyalty program by doing two things. First, they signed up with FavoriteEats, a loyalty program that makes it easy to see what foods your customers are loving. Second, they put iPads in their restaurant, to encourage guests to use the app. And they are. Since adding the iPads, their loyalty program has grown 250 percent.
3. Digitized Menus At London’s Inamo
Guests who order from tech-savvy tables spend 12 percent more than guests at a regular table. At London’s Inamo restaurant, guests can order from technologically-enhanced tables that come complete with menus as well as games to play while waiting for their food.
4. Digitally Interactive With 4Food Social Media
4Food has made its name as the most technologically advanced burger joint in Manhattan. And no wonder. Using iPads, guests can create their own burger, complete with a personalized name. The order is then broadcast across 4Food’s social media channels and displayed on the restaurant’s social media wall.
5. Ordering Online Upgrades With ChowNow And Facebook
You already know that social media is vital for any restaurant. But did you know that, by letting your customers order via their favorite social network, your profits can actually increase? South Carolina’s Taco Spot saw a 10 percent increase in digital orders after implementing ChowNow’s Facebook order app.
